Laser Clinics Gold Coast

Laser Clinics Gold Coast

Your skin and body deserve the best care available but when it comes to choosing a reputable laser clinic your choice can be challenging. Are the treatments administered by trained professionals? Is the equipment serviced regularly? Will you receive a pre-treatment consultation to ensure the chosen service is suitable and worth your investment?

These are all great questions you should be asking.

Once you’ve made the decision to take back control of your body, here’s how to make sure you find results worth acting for.

Choosing the Best Laser Clinics Gold Coast

You’ve found a Google list of best laser clinics in the gold cost – now what do you do with it? How do you decide which one truly is reputable? How do you guarantee you come away with results and not side effects?

There are 3 key criteria to choosing a best laser clinic;

  1. Who administers the treatment?
  2. What is the quality of laser equipment being used?
  3. Is the cost fair and honest?

How a treatment is administered has huge effects on the results you’ll enjoy. Imagine a child rubbing sunscreen into the-bits-you-can’t reach versus an adult doing the same thing. The best laser clinics in the gold coast administer treatments by courtesy of trained professionals. Skin and body treatments at Advanced Dermatology are mostly completed by registered nurses or doctors. A level of care you cannot beat.

Secondly, the quality of equipment used for your treatment will have even greater effect on the before vs. after outcome. Is the laser a beauty grade or medical grade laser? Is there a choice of lasers allowing you to benefit from a tailored treatment suitable for your skin type and condition? Advanced Dermatology is one of the best laser and cosmetic clinics in the Gold Coast because all treatments are carried out using state of the art, regularly upgraded technology.

Finally – cost. If your laser treatment feels too cheap to be reputable it probably is. Trust your instincts. Laser equipment is expensive, needs to be regularly maintained and sometimes replaced. The best laser clinics place your care ahead of profit. You should feel the price is honest but also competitive with other clinics of similar standard.

Is CoolLipo better than Liposuction?

You’ve made the decision to invest in cosmetic fat reduction. What you might not have bargained for is the wide range of cosmetic fat reduction treatments available to you.  Two of the most popular being Liposuction and CoolLipo Sculpting. While friendly recommendations and internet reviews can only go so far, understanding the scientific difference between these 2 fat reduction techniques will likely be what you need to decide which is a perfect fit for you.

CoolLipo vs Liposuction: Will it hurt?

The primary difference between CoolLipo and Liposuction is how each technique works to remove fat cells. Which in quick succession alludes to the difference in how each technique is performed.

Take Liposuction for instance. Liposuction works by physically removing fat cells from their source. Which means the technique used to do this is invasive. Under local anaesthetic small incisions are made in the targeted area, an ultra sound probe is inserted, fat cells are liquefied and suction is then used to eliminate them.

Liposuction is an invasive surgery requiring dermatological needles and knife. It can be highly targeted due to this intervention.

However CoolLipo is different. CoolLipo works by harnessing your body’s own natural fat removal system. Which means the technique used is non-invasive. A cooling probe is applied to the targeted fat reduction area, the temperature is cooled to a degree which is able to kill fat cells but leave surrounding skin cells un-harmed and the body will then over a period of 15 days to 12 weeks eliminate targeted fat cells naturally.

CoolLipo Fat Freezing is a non-invasive technique requiring no needles or scalpel. It is less targeted than Liposuction.

CoolLipo vs Liposuction: Recovery time

Perhaps one of the most significant differences between CoolLipo and Liposuction is the downtime you’ll experience.

As Liposuction requires surgery, recovery time vs. CoolLipo is longer. Should you opt for Liposuction fat removal you should expect to experience moderate to minimal discomfort for 2 to 5 days after treatment. You may also be required to wear compression clothing for 3 to 6 weeks after.

Alternatively if downtime or the worry of discomfort is not something you see as manageable, a CoolSculpting procedure can have you back at work the same day.

CoolLipo vs Liposuction: Before and After

Liposuction is in some communities seen as the gold standard treatment for fat removal before and after results. Liposuction can be highly targeted to specifically remove troublesome areas of fat. The procedure is also extremely effective resulting in an 80-100% average reduction of body. 1 procedure is all that’s needed for instant fat reduction.

On the other hand, CoolLipo results are gradual and buildable requiring more than 1 treatment for best effects. On average a CoolLipo procedure plan will reduce body fat by 25%.

In need of further advice to decide whether CoolLipo or Liposuction is the best fat reduction procedure for you? Contact us today for a free, no-obligation consultation.

The Skincare Benefits of Vitamin C

It’s common knowledge that vitamin C is a must-have in any balanced diet and many foods are enriched with additional vitamin C to increase the nutritional benefits. However, this all important vitamin isn’t just great for keeping your insides in good shape but can also have remarkable protective and anti-ageing effects on the skin. Discover the many benefits of vitamin C and how you should be incorporating it into your everyday skincare routine.

What is Vitamin C?

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is an important nutrient which cannot be made by the body alone so is a vital part of a balanced diet. Vitamin C features in many plant-based foods such as peppers, broccoli, berries, citrus fruits and tomatoes, and additional daily supplements can be taken. It’s vital to the body as it is an essential part of collagen production, a protein used for maintaining and repairing body tissue. A severe deficiency in vitamin C can cause tiredness, muscle and joint pains, bruising and dry hair and skin.

What are the benefits of vitamin C to the skin?

Whilst making sure you have the recommended daily amount of vitamin C is important to your overall health, there are many additional benefits to topically applying vitamin C and incorporating it into your skincare routine. These include:

Antioxidant properties

UV rays, pollution and cigarette smoke all damage the skin as they cause free radical production, rogue cells which damage existing and healthy cells, causing signs of premature ageing. Antioxidants help to neutralise these free radicals, minimising their damage and keeping skin cells healthy and complexions looking young.

Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant and as you age you produce less and less vitamin C, making your skin more vulnerable to free radical damage. Applying high concentrations of vitamin C to your skin is a great way to naturally protect your skin from causes of premature ageing.

Collagen production

One of the main functions of vitamin C is to regulate the production of the protein collagen, the most youthful ingredient in anti-ageing. Collagen helps to keep skin firm and repair damaged skin tissue and as you age your body produces less collagen which causes fine lines, wrinkles and loss of elasticity. Vitamin C stimulates collagen production, whilst also protecting it, so if you want more youthful and smoother looking skin, adding it into your skincare routine is a great way to achieve this.

Skin brightening

One of the most notorious benefits of vitamin C is its skin brightening properties. When applied topically, vitamin C can help to reduce uneven skin tones, targeting age spots, sun spots and hyperpigmentation for a brighter and more even complexion. It also has anti-inflammatory properties so it’s perfect for those who suffer from age-related inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea.

How to add vitamin C into your skincare routine

Whilst ensuring your diet is balanced with vitamin C will help your skin stay healthy, if you want to feel the full benefits, you will want to apply it topically in high-potency formulations. However, air, heat and light exposure can easily degrade vitamin C as in its natural form it can be unstable so it’s important you pick a formula which is stable whilst also delivering the maximum benefits.

Synthetic formulations of vitamin C have been developed such as ascorbate phosphate and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate which are much more stable and can still be easily absorbed into your skin for a pleasant skincare experience.

Dr Sarah’s tips for cosmetic injections

DermalFillerswithDrSarah

TIPS FROM OUR SKIN DOCTOR

Doctor Sarah is our cosmetics injector – overseeing the patient journey from start to finish at our Bondi Junction clinic, you can schedule a consultation to see her by submitting your details below or calling 1300 788 800. She invests a lot of care and attention to the sourcing of only the finest anti-wrinkle solutions (brands the TGA doesn’t allow us to mention) and dermal fillers for the longest possible results. Here Doctor Sarah reveals some of her most important suggestions for anyone considering cosmetic enhancement with injectable fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments.

Whilst the official figures are yet to come in, Aussies spent more than $600 million in 2016 on non-invasive cosmetic enhancement treatments like Injectable fillers, Anti-wrinkle injections and other skin treatments. Here are a few tips from Doctor Sarah herself, to help those considering cosmetic injectable treatment.

Let’s delve straight into them. Here’s what Dr. Sarah says:

  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

Consultations are subject to our standard terms & conditions which you can read here.

1. Don’t be fooled, A little product can go a long way

I often find that just one syringe of dermal filler can be used cleverly in a few different areas of the face to give a subtle freshening to the face. Don’t let yourself be talked into having many syringes of dermal filling product, especially if it’s your first time having an injectable treatment. This can double the injectable treatment price.

You should not have to spend more than an estimated $500-600 to achieve a natural looking enhancement. It’s much easier to add at a follow-up appointment if you feel you want a more dramatic change later, but most of my clients prefer the more natural aesthetic look and that’s what we provide to them.

2. Following pre-treatment instructions is important

You will be instructed to stop aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen, fish oil supplements, and any blood thinning medication prior to your treatment. Do not ignore these instructions; they may just save you from getting a possible bruise that is embarrassing and hard to cover.

Many people do not known that fish oil and certain other natural oils taken as supplements can increase the likelihood that you will develop bruising. I recommend that my patients stop taking them a couple of weeks before their treatment.

3. Do not be fooled by advertised cheap “per unit” prices for wrinkle injections

There are two main brands of anti-wrinkle injections available in Australia. One of the brands requires about two and a half times the dose of the other to achieve the same effect. Keep this in mind when you see what appears to be a ridiculously cheap per unit price for wrinkle injections. That’s usually exactly what it is – ridiculous. You will almost always end up needing many more units of this type of product, and in the end, the cost is usually higher.

4. Trust your cosmetic doctor’s advice

I often have clients who say, “I like what you did for my friend “Jane”; her lips look amazing. I would really like you to do the exact same thing for me”, or some other request along those lines. Other times, clients bring in photos of celebrities after whom they would like to model their new look. I must tell these patients that what works for one individual may not work for another. We all have our own unique innate facial structure. It is my training as a doctor and my years of experience that make me the expert in knowing what will work best for you aesthetically. As your doctor, I am there to advise you on what is going to work for YOU.

5. Injectables can be pain free

As long as you arrive at least a half an hour early for your injectable appointment, our office staff can apply anaesthetic cream, sometimes called numbing cream, to the areas to be treated. Whilst it’s not necessary and most people are perfectly happy to go without, It requires a bit of time to numb the area in question. This will ensure a more comfortable experience as you are given your injectable treatment. We also offer ice as a pre-treatment option. Ice cools the skin and thereby acts as a distraction to the pain receptors that are less able to detect the pain of the needle. The ice also helps to constrict capillaries in the skin making bruising less likely. Not everyone likes ice during their treatment, as some find the extreme cold on the surface of the skin more painful than the injections themselves.

Injectable facial treatments offer an affordable, quick method to rejuvenate your appearance. Get the most of the experience. Let the expert be your guide. Follow instructions and recommendations before and after your appointment. Arrive early at the office to enhance your comfort and don’t be fooled by cheap sounding marketing.

Dr. Sarah wants the best for YOU. Contact Advanced Dermatology today to learn more about injectable fillers and wrinkle treatments, or to make an appointment for your consultation and treatment.

Myths and Facts about Stretch Marks

Some say that stretch marks are to women what hair loss is to men and there may be some truth is this popular belief. According to recent statistics, the number of patient consultations concerning this issue has gone up dramatically these past decades. Despite the large number of consultations however, it is women who rank high on the list of patients.

Even when stretch marks are an obvious reason of concern, few people actually know about stretch marks in depth. What they are and how they can be prevented is still a topic of debate. Moreover, there are still certain myths whose existence still account for the large number of home remedies aimed at “treating” this unwanted evil.

Debunking the Myths

Let’s take a look at some of the most popular alleged facts traditionally associated with the appearance of stretch marks and their possible treatments.

Myth # 1: Stretch Marks are caused by overweight

Research has proved that stretch marks occur after weight changes. It is true then that after some type of weight gain, skin is likely to overstretch with the subsequent appearance of stretch marks.

Nonetheless, skin may be stretched for several reasons other than overweight; for example, during pregnancy or after a growth spurt. This is why the first stretch marks appear during puberty in women, especially in the thighs or breasts. Moreover, some athletes, especially body-builders, have reported the appearance of stretch marks after an excessively speedy muscle mass-gain process.

Myth # 2: Stretch Marks Disappear after Dieting or Weight Loss

Research shows that once skin has been stretched – which is a form of scarring – it is highly unlikely for it to get back to its previous state. In fact, chances are that after a noticeable weight loss, stretch marks become even more visible as skin is looser.

Myth # 3: Exercising improves Stretch Marks

Truth be told, no amount of exercising will ever make already existing stretch marks disappear. On the other hand, a firmer a better toned body helps to conceal stretch marks.

Myth # 4: Only Women get Stretch Marks

Together with the overweight claim, this is perhaps one of the most popular myths. Even when stretch marks appear in women more often than in men, there are still a number of male patients – about 24% – who develop these marks during their lives.

Myth # 5: Nothing can be done about Stretch Marks

This is a belief that comes from the time when nothing could be done about them. These days however, thanks to the latest developments in cosmetic care, we know that moisturizing the skin properly can greatly contribute to the prevention and improvement of the skin’s appearance. In addition, some cosmetic products and treatments have been proved to be effective when treating this condition.

Myth # 6: Treating Stretch Marks is completely unnecessary

However innocuous stretch marks do not cease to be invasive and distressful for the person who feels concerned with the way they look or feel. Dealing with this issue can greatly contribute to boosting self-esteem and improving patient’s sense of contentment.

Guide to Men’s Skincare

Men generally put less demands on their skin because it tends to be thicker than women’s skin and they don’t tend to wear make-up. Some products, such as Advanced Dermatology, can help men deal with skin care issues that still plague them. Shaving, facial hair, acne, razor bumps, and other issues relating to facial hair can cause problems for many men when it comes to figuring out a skin care routine. Like women, they must pay attention to their skin type (oily, normal, or dry) in order to establish the proper routine.

Bar soaps are not suitable for dry skin because they can increase dryness. However, it’s good to use products that have vitamin E, olive, or jojoba oil as part of their ingredients because these help moisturise skin. In addition, using a moisturiser as well as sunblock is a crucial part of skin care for all genders.

Skin care routines

A good skin care routine involves washing your face once a day to remove dead skin cells that could clog pores. After washing your face, use a moisturiser to keep your skin’s healthy glow. Products such as Advanced Dermatology’s Deep Cellular Regeneration Cream help moisturise the skin, rebuild collagen and elastin, and have the proteins needed to help keep skin firm.

Oil-based moisturisers are fine for men with dry or normal skin, but a water-based moisturiser is best for those with oily skin. What you put into your body is just as important as your skin care habits, so make sure you drink plenty of water to help your skin be the best it can be. Avoid sugar as much as you can unless it’s in natural forms, such as fruit. Junk food can lead to inflammation, which leads to breakouts. In addition, wearing at least a 15 SPF sunscreen can help reduce the likelihood of wrinkles. Don’t underestimate getting a good night’s sleep. It helps keep the skin and your overall health in good condition. Still, for those eye problems that begin showing age before you’re ready, Advanced Dermatology’s Youthful Boost Eye Cream helps combat bags under your eyes, increase circulation, and stimulate collagen production while combating inflammation.

Facelift-without-surgery

Use the best products

When taking care of your skin, pay special attention to the best products for your skin. Products such as Advanced Dermatology’s Daily Renew Cleanser can help you remove dead skin cells without stripping your skin of its natural oils. What’s more, doctors frequently recommend Advanced Dermatology products to their patients. Because men have thicker skin, it is to their advantage that Advanced Dermatology products contain many active ingredients, but do not include dyes, fragrances, or preservatives that may increase skin care problems.

Advanced Dermatology’s Super Youth Serum helps lock in moisture, which can be especially helpful in combating razor bumps that are often caused due to clogged pores as well as the friction involved in shaving. In addition, the Super Youth Serum helps combat signs of ageing.

Sunblock and protection from UV rays are also important to men’s skin care. Advanced Dermatology’s Complete Age Day Defense Cream helps protect the skin from the loss of moisture, the sun’s rays, glycation, and oxidation in addition to other environmental hazards to your skin.

Many anti-ageing products target women, but Advanced Dermatology’s Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Treatment is suitable for both genders and is easy to use because one only has to apply it at night. Its active ingredients include three peptides and plan stem cell extract. This product helps remove any damage caused to the skin during the day and is applied before going to sleep.

Ceramides

Learning about Ceramides: General Overview

Ceramides is the name given to a series of substances that belong to the family of waxy lipid molecules. Technically speaking, a ceramide is composed of fatty acids and sphingosine, which is an amino carbon alcohol.

It is a natural product that can be found in most mammals and in or bodies as well. Available in high concentrations within the cell membrane of cells, ceramides are responsible for creating some of the most important lipids in our bodies.

Used in a wide variety of skin care and beauty products, this substance is vital when it comes to providing both moisturising as well as smoothening effects on the human body and hair.

History & Chemical Properties

But how does this chemical relate to the creation of cosmetic products? To begin with, ceramides is the key component found in the epidermis of the human skin. Together with other tissues, it is responsible for creating a protective skin coating that prevents dehydration and loss of liquid. This is the reason why, the younger the age, the larger amounts of natural ceramides that can be found in the human skin.

Unfortunately, scientific research would soon conclude that there is a significant loss of natural ceramides with the passing of years. Consequently, the depletion of this substance soon translates into sagging skin and loss of skin tone.

It was not until the mid 20th century that this substance found its way into the cosmetic market. Produced synthetically in many labs around the world it is a common ingredient in many skin care products.

FDA Approved or Not?

The matter of ceramides being approved by the FDA was of major concern for many years. Since it falls under the category of phytols, it has now been approved. However, this should not mean that its use is 100% risk free for humans.

Where can we find Ceramides?

As was mentioned before, ceramides can be found in a vast array of beauty products, such as shampoos, skin lotions sunscreens, hair conditioners and soaps. In addition, many pharmaceutical labs use it to increase the moisturising effect in some types of topical skin medication.

The Pros

Advertised as the ultimate anti-ageing miracle for multiple uses, ceramides may be helpful as a natural emollient added to all types of beauty products. Used to treat damaged hair and skin, it is also known for its generation of smoother and softer skin.

Since it is a lipid after all, it will also contribute to moisturise both skin and hair, leaving the latter looking glossier than before.

The Cons

Beauty in this case will not come free of charge, though. Even when phytoceramides can be said to be generally safe and few side effects have been reported, users should pay attention to the source of the ceramides they are consuming.

For example, if an individual were allergic to wheat, using a product whose ceramide content is of wheat origin would mean facing the same allergic reactions generated when consuming wheat. Consequently, checking with a health specialist is the best choice in all cases.

Panthenol

 The Truth about Using Panthenol

Panthenol, which is really a pro vitamin of B5, is a water-soluble ingredient commonly used in cosmetics mainly because of its ability to provide moisturising and smoothing properties, especially on human hair and skin.

This substance, whose full name is Panthetonol, is the alcohol analog of panthotenic acid or Vitamin B5. It is soluble in water and slightly soluble in glycerin. This highly soluble quality is what accounts for its high popularity in the world of cosmetic production.

History

As a natural ingredient, Panthenol was first found in plants in the form of a clear substance of rare viscosity. However, it can also be found in a powdery presentation in the form of salts.

Available in nature in the form of two opposing presentations –known as enantiomers – both of which possess moisturising properties, Panthenol is a popular moisturising agent that is used to bind other ingredients in products concerning personal hygiene or beauty.

FDA Approval

Pantothenic acid has been regarded safe by the FDA for most uses. However, several warnings have been raised concerning certain issues, such as the risks of using products containing Panthenol for over long periods of time.

Chemical Properties Commonly found in Panthenol

Panthenol in its chemical structure has the ability to attract moisture. In addition, Panthenol binds to water molecule quite effectively, thus making it the ideal carrier for other substances as well.

Since it is an effective skin penetrator, it is sometimes used for ointment mixtures where its efficacy as a carrier can be really demonstrated. According to some independent studies, Panthenol has the ability to reduce skin irritation and inflammation. This is why it can be found in certain skincare products as well. Finally, it has the quality of providing extra shine and gloss to human skin and hair.

Types of Products Containing Panthenol

There is a vast array of products that contain Panthenol available on the cosmetic market these days. Chances are that if one were to take a look at the labels of all cosmetic products lying around our house, we would most surely find Panthenol written in them.

Most common products containing Panthetonol include shampoos and hair conditioners, body lotions and creams, ointments and treatment lotions and finally, some hairsprays, too.

Panthenol and its Benefits

One of the main reasons so many beauty companies have turned to this substance is its efficiency in providing moisturising properties in very commonly used products. Apart from attracting moisture and binding water molecules, this ingredient is effective for treating sunburns, reducing skin irritation and inflammation and finally, to treat certain symptoms, such as skin irritation and occasional rashes.

What about the Side Effects?

Unfortunately, even when we all like glossy hair, there are certain warnings that must be taken into account before using Panthenol that openly. First off, according to recent research, permanent and continuous use of products containing high quantities of Panthenol may ironically, turn out to be detrimental to skin health. For example, cases of skin rash and irritation have been reported among massive users.

Triethanolamine

Triethanolamine: Is it Safe to Use?

Chemically classified as an amine, Triethanolamine – aka TEA –  is produced when an ethylene oxide reacts with ammonia. Even when these two latter substances are widely known for their high levels of toxicity, the resulting substance –Triethanolamine- is useful as a buffering agent that is in charge of carrying either fragrance, or acting as a surfactant, among several other users attached to this ingredient.

These days it is widely used in the cosmetic industry, where it is highly cherished for its unique Ph balancing properties that come in handy to develop certain types of shampoos or hair conditioning products.

History

As a topical treatment, a form of this substance known as Triethanolamine Salicylate was used for treating arthritis, muscle pain or sprains. It was because of its efficiency that the substance began to be used for other purposes as well. Besides its well-known use in the cosmetic industry, Triethanolamine has been used for cement in construction and in the production of other goods, as well.

FDA Approval

This ingredient has been approved by the FDA as a food additive that is sometimes used in packaging. Similarly it has been CIR approved, but with limits that involve levels of concentration. This means that whereas the CIR has approved its use in cosmetic products, such as lotions or body creams, it has raised a serious warning concerning the amount of Triethanolamine that can be included in each product, limiting to 5% in products that are to be in direct contact with the human skin.

Triethanolamine and its Chemical Properties

Being both a tertiary amine and a triol, this substance is a strong base and should therefore be handled with care. Possessing emollient and surfactant properties, this substance is optimal to produce both, industrial or commercially-developed goods.

Another chemical property concerns keeping track and balance of other products’ pH. Therefore, it is being used in shampoos that must have low pH content, for instance. In addition, hair beauty products advertised as providing a low pH base generally have certain levels of Triethanolamine or any of its derivatives.

Types of Products Containing Triethanolamine

Apart from being present in the most widely used products, such as hair care products, hair dyes, eyeliners, eye shadows, shaving lotions, sunscreens and skin cleansing product.

Other non-cosmetic products include construction materials, like cement, for instance.

Why should you Use Triethanolamine?

There are many reasons that have led to the increase in popularity of this substance. First off, human hair skin and nails tend to improve when treated with cosmetics containing this substance. Secondly, it is a practical pH adjuster that helps to convey scents and fragrances.

What’s not to Like?

Despite its many benefits, this substance has been warned against overuse. Recent research strongly suggests that this substance is a skin and immune system toxicant.

Besides, its use has been clinically linked to allergic reactions that may eventually lead to eye problems and respiratory infections.

But the scariest side effect of all concerns the likelihood of developing cancerous cells in people who have used these products for long periods.

What Causes Wrinkles

All You Need to Know about What Causes Wrinkles

We may not know exactly what causes wrinkles but a day will come in every woman’s (a man’s!) life where we must face it–wrinkles will begin to appear as fine lines, crows feet, deep set wrinkles and sagging skin around our eyes, between our eyebrows, cheeks and forehead. Wherever we may find wrinkles appearing on our faces, we can take the necessary steps to reduce them. Yes, it is possible to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles through expert care and skin tightening creams.

One of the first steps to reducing these signs of ageing is to learn what causes wrinkles in the first place. There is a list of reasons why wrinkles begin to appear. Not every reason will apply to you but you may find yourself agreeing to at least a few of them. Once you have read on about what causes wrinkles, the next step is to find a powerful at-home treatment like the Advanced Dermatology Anti Ageing Kit which is a simple at-home skin care regime catered to battling fine lines, tightening skin and plumping the appearance of sagging skin. It is the leading skin care line for achieving younger looking skin.

What Causes Wrinkles.

Wrinkles are caused by ultraviolet radiation which breaks down the skin’s connective tissue (collagen and elastin) and below are other reasons:

  • Age: Naturally, with age, our skin produces less collagen, elastin and natural oils that help keep skin luminous and firm.
  • Repeated facial expressions. Never stop smiling! But repeated facial expressions can cause lines to set-in when we become older and the skin can no longer bounce back.
  • Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light: As mentioned, UV light is a huge factor to what causes wrinkles so it is very important to use SPF while in the sun, especially those who have fair skin or who are exposed to sunlight often.
  • Smoking: Smoking causes hard wrinkles and speeds the ageing process.
  • Genetics: Fairer-skinned women have less protection to UV light that causes wrinkles.

While you cannot prevent genetics, there are quite a few beauty hacks you can use to help prevent wrinkles. These are things you could be doing every day without even knowing it!

Not taking off Makeup. Wash your face every night to strip away the toxins and dirt from the day. Not taking off makeup can trap in oil and dirt which will break down collagen and elastin.

Pulling at your face while applying makeup. It may seem harmless to tug at your eyes to get a perfect winged eyeliner, but pulling at your skin is practically asking for wrinkles.

Not eating right. A healthy diet with few alcoholic drinks will keep your skin full of vitamins and minerals essential for healthy, youthful looking skin.

So now that you are more aware of what causes wrinkles, what can you do to treat them?

If you have tried my recommendation for Advanced Dermatology product line for treating ageing skin, the most powerful treatment for wrinkles they provide is the Sixty Minute Facelift. The Sixty Minute Facelift improves tone, texture and volume in just an hour without the expensive injections and high-end creams that don’t work. It helps your skin produce more collagen which will plump up the skin where it needs it most!

Wrinkles are natural and an inevitable part of the ageing process, but luckily it is possible to prevent them and purchase great products on the market to help treat them. Here is a recap:

  • Do not smoke
  • Use sunscreen with high SPF every time you are exposed to sunlight
  • Take off makeup every night
  • Do not stretch or pull at skin, especially around the eye area
  • Use an Anti-Ageing skin care regime
