Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea is a common skin condition that typically affects light-skinned individuals aged 40 to 60 years. It appears as a reddish, ruddy rash, most often on the face. If left untreated, rosacea can worsen over time. Diagnosis is made by simple physician examination. While there is no cure for rosacea, there are many rosacea treatment options that provide good relief from symptoms.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory condition of the skin which causes redness, usually on the face. The rosacea rash appears as small, red, pus-filled bumps on the affected skin.

Signs and Symptoms of Rosacea

Rosacea is characterised by redness of the skin. It can be present on the cheeks, chin, nose and/or forehead. While rosacea is more common amongst women, when it appears in men it is often more severe. Symptoms of rosacea can appear and disappear inconsistently. This condition, because it is so prominently visible on the face, can be embarrassing and anxiety provoking. These feelings can be so severe to the point that in some people, it can significantly affect social lives. Some common signs and symptoms of rosacea are:
■      Persistent redness of the skin
■      Burning or stinging of the affected area
■      Dilated or visible blood vessels, red spots of various sizes and small red bumps (pustules)
■      Inflammation of the eyes and eyelids
■      Regular blushing or flushing
■     In men, the nose can become swollen, red and bulbous as a result of overgrown oil (sebaceous) glands.

What causes rosacea?

There is no known cause for rosacea. Since some rosacea patients respond to antibiotic medications, some scientists believe that it is a bacterial infection. Other research indicates that rosacea is caused by a malfunction of the blood vessels resulting in their rapid dilation. Either way, it is clear that rosacea is not a contagious disease. While there is no specific evidence to show that rosacea is genetic, it does appear to run in some families.

Some lifestyle factors have been shown to exacerbate rosacea symptoms. These include consuming alcohol or spicy food, exercising, extreme temperatures (high or low), exposure to UV rays and stress.

Treating rosacea

While there is no known cure for rosacea, there are effective rosacea treatments which can significantly reduce symptoms. The variety of treatments may have different effects on different patients, and treatment options should be selected in consultation with a skin expert. If left untreated, rosacea can become worse and cause permanent scarring or other issues. Treatment is recommended as soon as the condition is diagnosed.

Treatment options may include oral or topical medications, laser or light therapy, and lifestyle modification.

If you suspect you have rosacea:

■      Take measures to protect your skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays
■      Consider changing any lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your rosacea symptoms such as alcohol intake, stress, etc.
■      Experiment with different non-irritating cosmetics which may help to mask the rosacea.
■      Avoid harsh cleansers or scrubs, or any physical scrubbing of the affected area as these can aggravate the rosacea.
■      Consult your skin expert.

I have been recently diagnosed with rosacea by a dermatologist and I was prescribed me Rosex cream which is apparently a great at home treatment for rosacea. I went to my dermatologist due to my red cheeks, after using Rosex cream, the redness looks worse and it burns. I am really annoyed it was supposed to help but it made my condition worse. I don’t want to try another cream as apparently Rosex is the best – or maybe not. I am looking for other treatments for rosacea, hoping to find a clinic that can help me with a good rosacea treatment in Sydney.

Many doctors claim that rosacea can be treated with a diet? What is the best ‘rosacea treatment diet’ then? I eat healthy always and I do not think a diet will change much if anything at all.
I am a 27 year old and have been suffering from red cheeks and red nose for many years. I have tried different creams to get rid of rosacea but they don’t work too well. I know there is no treatment for rosacea but there are laser treatments that fight the symptoms of rosacea that help with maintaining the condition. Some acne treatments do affect rosacea and can make it worse but there are acne rosacea treatments available at some laser clinics in Sydney. I’m not sure about the rosacea laser treatment cost but I would imagine it is not too expensive. I might consider it myself too.

I suffer from a rosacea rash it comes randomly on my cheeks and forehead. Is this a skin condition?

I’m really concerned! This article said that there is no cure for rosacea only treatments that reduce symptoms, is this accurate? Are there any rosacea creams that I could use? Do you know what the best rosacea treatment would be?

My roseacea has been with me since I was very young. My doctor advised that there was no treatment for rosacea. I have been told to start a roseacea diet as apparently that can affect it. I was told not to stress to change my life style and so on. I am now looking for a second opinion now.
I was hoping someone would know what causes roseacea? Even this article states that there is no known reason to what causes roseacea. I’m not sure how nobody seems to know the cause but I am happy to learn that there are some treatments available. Has anyone here been treated for roseacea?

I think it’ a very embarrassing skin condition to have and I would love to find an effective treatment. I would prefer a safer way to treat roseacea so I am hoping there are some creams available to help me out. Time to do some more research. Thank you for the advice!

What are rosacea symptoms? As most people, I have googled rosacea pictures and I have seen some very bad pictures! My condition does not look as bad but I get red spots on my face and in times red cheeks. Before I head to a dermatologist I thought to look up rosacea home treatments and there seems to be some rosacea skin care products but I don’t know if they work. A rosacea natural treatment would be my preference but I haven’t been able to find any natural treatments or organic products for rosacea.

    Hi,
I had a rosacea laser treatment about a year ago and I was prescribed a cream to stop rosacea but I did not continue using the rosacea cream and I didn’t continue with the rosacea laser treatments. I was wondering if there was a cure for rosacea or are these treatments only to alleviate the symptoms of rosacea. I have spent a lot of time learning and looking for better options on how to treat rosacea but have not come across an option that completely removes the skin condition.

I have rosy cheeks and it doesn’t really bother me too much anymore but I would still like to learn more about natural remedies or organic skincare that could help with this condition.
For many years I tried a variety of rosacea treatments, I have had antibiotics, used at home treatments for rosacea different creams. They all worked to a point but when stopped using them the rosacea would return.
I have now decided to look for a natural rosacea treatment? I don’t want to use any rosacea skin care as they seem to have alcohol and other chemicals in them and I am in the belief that it would make the condition much worse.

What is rosacea? I have been told I might have rosacea but I still do not understand what it is or what cause rosacea?
I am from the UK and have fine skin but since a childhood I have been getting red cheeks and facial redness. It would be great if I could get some advice on how to treat rosacea and what causes rosacea.

I do wonder if my local GP could prescribe me something or would I be better of going to a dermatologist. It would be great if my health insurance would cover any rosacea treatments as it is a health condition.

What are rosacea causes and symptoms? I often have red cheeks and after reading this article I’m worried I might actually have rosacea. I have seen rosacea pictures and it looks very similar to what I often look like. Does anyone know what exactly causes rosacea and what is the best treatment? Thank you!

Are there any natural treatments for rosacea? I have had a rosacea treatment before but I don’t like the idea of having antibiotics for rosacea. When I stopped taking them the rosacea symptoms came back and were even worse. I have tried some natural remedies or old wife tales as some call it, tried applying organic skin care for rosacea but they don’t seem to help.

I am still trying to figure out what cause rosacea and how I can stop it. I have changed my diet, which seemed to have helped a little but the rosacea still kept coming back. I don’t want any surgical treatments as I am sure the rosacea natural treatments would work just as well.

Ever since I started avoiding the exfoliators and other products that I used to soothe my skin, the rosacea symptoms are a bit less harsh. Avoid those products completely! I believe that there is a rosacea natural treatment and that is taking care of your lifestyle. I love all the new treatments for whatever the rosacea cause is, but I am still quite afraid of them. I’m afraid that the laser treatment can even make it worse. I know that might be ignorance and paranoia speaking from me, but the redness that I get from just going out in the hot sun is insane. I have to stay in the house for days before it goes away. And I don’t even dare to put on make-up. It is quite frustrating, and I do understand everyone who has to live with rosacea…

I really dislike it when people treat rosacea as an infectious disease. I was born that way, and I will probably live with it my entire life. My mum had it as well… I guess it is in the genes. I’ve researched about it all around and found a couple of rosacea treatments in Melbourne clinics, which is near where I live. I’m not keen on those rosacea treatments over the counter, so I might as well pay a visit to the clinic. I’m a firm believer in modern science. It can fix everything. Or at least as this article claims, reduce the symptoms and awkwardness of the entire thing. No more red cheeks for me that is what I’m hoping for. I’m still not sure what kind of a treatment I will get, but I am going to base my decision on the doctor’s advice.

It’s actually pretty common that people don’t know about this skin condition. My friends asked me in the beginning what is rosacea anyways… I was embarrassed sometimes since it sounded like I have a contagious disease. But it’s not… I can’t say where it comes from, all I know is that I have been taking care of my skin ever since I was officially diagnosed with it. As far as a treatment for rosacea is concerned, I believe it is up to several things. First of all, lead a healthy lifestyle… Don’t stress over small things, don’t eat spicy food, no matter how much you love it, don’t go out in the hot scorching sun, or in the coldest winter either… That can help reduce symptoms, unfortunately, not a lot.

This article gave me some insight into what I can look for in Sydney clinics. Hopefully, I come across a nice doctor that will explain in detail about each treatment, and which one is the safest and the most comfortable one. Rosacea can be uncomfortable on its own, I don’t need a treatment that’s going to make it worse.

I don’t have a severe case of rosacea… It does seem to be getting worse from time to time. I’ve asked around for rosacea natural treatments, since I am, and always will be, a firm believer in natural medicine. Nature can cure the best…

Acne from rosacea treatments are terrible, and all because you don’t try with natural remedies. I suffered from severe acne from rosacea treatment and it was from that moment on I decided that the new-age treatments were not for me. I do believe that younger people want quicker ways to get rid of it. I’m in my sixties, I’m not in a rush, I just want to avoid the uncomfortable feeling, and be able to lay in the sun all day…

Once you make peace with the fact that you can’t cure it, you’re going to make peace with any kind of treatment you can get. I’m fine with natural remedies, but I’m guessing the modern techniques can have some power as well…

I was just looking for something to reduce the rosacea symptoms. As I am someone who doesn’t really have a lot of time on my hands, or patience, I opted for a rosacea laser treatment in hopes that it will bring hard-core results, fast. This is my experience. It diminished the redness totally, the itchiness gone. Out of all the rosacea treatments, I would definitely recommend the laser one, but be sure to check it out and discuss it with your doctor. Don’t just go in there and demand it if you don’t know much about it, and you just read my comment. I had a very long consultation and examination with my doc before I opted for the lasers. I am content with the results, although I am secretly wishing there was a permanent cure.

There may not be a cure, but there is a way to prevent it from creating chaos on your face. I’ve done it with light treatments and creams that I have applied on specific places. The creams made my face calm and soothed it whenever it itched, and it did itch sometimes. The rosacea creams can be effective, but the light treatments really made a huge difference. After that, the doctor advised me to pay attention to the rosacea diet, which is specific. I skipped the alcohol and spicy foods… It really does contribute a lot… The nutrition, cream, and light treatments altogether make a huge difference, and now I am satisfied with the way my face looks.

There is no more of that redness, which made me look like I was embarrassed all the time. It didn’t bother me that much before, but I was going crazy with years. I would recommend this procedure to anyone. Don’t stand around waiting for it to go away, because it won’t.

I am very glad that I found this article! So informative on rosacea and the rosacea symptoms. I am interested in trying out the photo-rejuvenation. I can handle the slight pain of this, as I do not think that “Rubber band” snapping would feel all that bad. Plus with the minimal side effects and no downtime, I feel that it would be a great treatment to do. I am also going to switch to a different cleanser to treat my face, as I feel that perhaps I am using a cleanser that is too harsh. Thank you!
