Pumpkin Peel

Pumpkin Peel as a Facial Rejuvenation Treatment

Pumpkin peels are used to exfoliate the skin. They are made with the enzymes of the pumpkin, which brings nutrients and vitamins to the skin. A pumpkin peel usually lasts about an hour, and will feel warm when first applied to the skin. It might feel prickly to some. It will then change to a tightening sensation. Usually a series of pumpkin peels are needed to see results. Often times it is recommended to have 4 to 6 peels done, one to two weeks apart.

Pumpkin peels have been known to stimulate circulation and promote healing of the skin due to the beta carotene and vitamin A. Those with sensitive skin will be able to tolerate a pumpkin peel because it is not too intrusive. Clarity and skin smoothness will be seen immediately following a pumpkin peel.  Other benefits of pumpkin peels include an increase in cell turnover, increased epidermal and dermal hydration, decreased fine lines and wrinkles, lightened pigmentation, collagen production stimulated, tightness of skin, and diminished acne breakouts. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits are also seen through a pumpkin peel.

Proteolytic enzymes are found in pumpkin peels. These enzymes help break down the keratin bond between the dead skin cells. The outer layer of the dead skin cells will be exfoliated away without damaging the inner cells that are still alive.

How is it done?

A pumpkin peel will be applied to the skin and left on for 5 to 10 minutes, dependent on what condition the skin is in. The peel will then be neutralised. While the pumpkin peel is being neutralised, the skin will be stimulated and exfoliated. Stinging, redness, dryness and mild skin irritation are often results of a pumpkin peel. After the pumpkin peel, a moisturizer should be applied to the skin. A broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF should be applied to the skin to protect it from the sun’s rays. As with many chemical peels, the skin will be more sensitive than it was prior to the peel.

There are some over the counter pumpkin peels that deliver excellent results. These pumpkin peels are not as intense as having one done in your dermatologist’s office, but can deliver results nonetheless.

I have had a pumpkin peel done. Three to be precise. Yes they do feel so good when they are warming up on the face. And then the tingling sensation really feels like you are at the spa. I got my pumpkin peel done at the dermatologist office. It is a procedure that I would highly recommend getting. The skin sees results immediately. I know that my skin looked so much better once my face was neutralized. I am excited to try another one in a week!

I am interested in doing a pumpkin peel. I have heard so many great things about them. I would love to be able to have many antioxidants and minerals in my skin. And the texture of my skin is not that great, so if this could smooth my skin out, then I am all for it. I remember years ago I had this mask that I did on my face that would heat up and it felt amazing on the skin when it did. I have not been able to find a mask like this since so maybe a pumpkin peel would be like the same thing heat wise? I do hope so as the mask that I once used was awesome.

Ladies if you have not had a pumpkin peel then you are missing out. I have had one done for my 40th birthday as a gift from my daughter. I loved it. It felt so good and my skin just has never looked better. This is something that I could do for my face a few times a year on a professional level. It feel so good, I know that I stated that already but honestly it does. It is one of the best treatments that I have ever had professionally done.

I have never had a pumpkin peel done before but my sister has. She raved about the results. She said that as soon as the peel was rinsed off her face, she could tell a difference. And I could as well the next time that I saw her. Her face looks like that of a porcelain doll now! So soft and smooth to the touch she says and it honestly looks that way. I have made plans to have one done next month for my birthday as a gift from my sister. She said that once I have it done, I will be amazed and wonder why I did not have it done sooner.

I have had 3 professional pumpkin peels done and loved the effects of them. I also do maintenance at home with Peter Thomas Roth’s Pumpkin Enzyme peel. I love what it does for my skin, detoxing it and removing dead skin cells. And the scent is just amazing. Really relaxing. I totally feel like I am in a spa when I use it. It is very gentle on my skin as it just rinses off. I use it about once a week to make sure that my skin is in tip top shape.
