Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

The Alternative to Nose Job Surgery

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is also known as the 15 Minute Nose Job. It is used for both cosmetic and health purposes since it can aid people who might have breathing issues. Non surgical rhinoplasty has been documented since the 19th century and has come a long way since then. It exists in its current form because of the work of Dr. Rivkin, who pioneered the use of fillers in 2003.

Today a non-surgical rhinoplasty uses fillers in order to improve the look of patients’ noses. The goal of the procedure is typically to make a lowered or curved nose appear straighter. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can also be used to correct asymmetry in a patients’ nose. The nose is carefully injected using fillers after a consult with a plastic surgeon or physician.

Advantages and disadvantages of Non Surgical Rhinoplasty

Traditional rhinoplasty requires surgery and ample recovery time. A patient has to wait until the swelling in their face diminishes. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can be performed in about 15 minutes. At Advanced Dermatology we have a range of dermal fillers and during your consultation with our medical practitioner you will be recommended which dermal fillers would be best suited for your non-surgical rhinoplasty treatment. This procedure is suitable for:

  • Those who want to correct asymmetry, hollowness, or indentations in their nose.
  • Patients interested in reducing bumps–or their appearance–on their noses.
  • Patients who want to enhance the bridge in their noses or who have a flat nasal ridge.
  • Patients who received a traditional surgical rhinoplasty and want to correct unsatisfactory results.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty can also be used to correct certain birth defects. Furthermore, this procedure doesn’t interrupt the normal breathing process because fillers are injected into the skin layer. No nasal bleeding or swelling occurs during a non-surgical rhinoplasty because of the way it is performed. The patient is awake and has more control over the results of the procedure. A non-surgical rhinoplasty is also far cheaper than a traditional rhinoplasty and only focuses on enhancing the features of the nose rather than a reconstruction. Usually the procedure requires only one appointment, whereas a traditional rhinoplasty requires several.

However, the fillers used for the 15 minute nose job can’t increase the nose’s width or length. The 15 minute nose job also can’t be used for patients who are interested in nose reduction or in changing the appearance of nostrils (from narrow to wide, for example).

Overview

Once the patient decides they would like a non-surgical rhinoplasty the surgeon will generally use topical anaesthesia to ensure the patient is comfortable during the injection process. A hypodermic needle is used to inject the filler under the patients’ nasal skin.

It typically takes 15 minutes for the skin to be numb enough to be injected comfortably. After this, the surgeon may take between 30-45 minutes injecting the filler into the patient. A patient can usually continue with their daily activities after the procedure is performed.

Patients who are interested in a raised tip are injected at the tip of the nose. Those who want a straight nasal bridge are injected at above and below the nose bridge’s bump.
