LED Facial

What is a LED Facial?

LED facials are a gentle way to treat the face and skin. Natural light energy is used to restore the skin. Energy is emitted through red light emitting diodes that can help increase collagen and elastin, improve the lymphatic system and help to increase circulation. Other benefits of LED light therapy include improving the overall complexion of the skin, toning and firming of the skin, treat acne, help with freckles, treat scars, have wrinkles and deep lines filled in, and sunspots erased. This technology has been approved by the FDA (food and drug administration).

How do LED Facials works?

LED light will be converted to energy which is needed to repair the cells and tissue of the skin. Different wavelengths are used to achieve various conditions for the skin. Red wavelengths are used to promote collagen, while violet blue wavelengths are used to kill bacteria that forms acne.

A series of treatments will be needed by most individuals. Eight to fifteen treatments are recommended weekly or bi-weekly, and then the individual can be placed on monthly maintenance treatments.

How Safe are LED facials?

LED facials are very safe. The treatment is very gentle, and is harmless to the skin. No pain is felt in this non-invasive treatment. Treatments take about half an hour to an hour to complete. Many report feeling relaxed and a light warmth during the process. No thermal damage will be done to the skin. There is no downtime after the treatment, and individuals may apply makeup or go out in the sun immediately after the LED facial. Many individuals will benefit from this form of light therapy, however, individuals that are pregnant, have epilepsy or use medications that cause light sensitivity should not use this. LED facials can be used by both men and woman, and can be used by all skin types. Post treatment, the skin may have a dry feeling to it.

What results can one expect with LED facials?

After a single treatment of an LED facial, the skin will appear to be smoother and more hydrated. The skin can have a radiant glow to it. After each treatment, the skin will continue to see gradual improvement. Brown spots and redness will fade as pore size diminishes. Results will depend on the age of the skin, physical condition of the individual, skin complexion and tone, diet and life style.

What are some popular LED facials used?

There are many different kinds of LED facials used by skin care professionals. Gentlewaves utilises a device that uses low intensity LED light. Individuals with dull skin, sunburn, sun damage, and rosacea can use Gentlewaves. This treatment will reduce the inflammation with sunburns while speeding up the healing time. A youthful glow can be restored. Gentlewaves can be used on many parts of the body, including the arms, legs, chest, back, and stomach. It may be used in conjunction with other skin care treatments to slow down the aging of the skin and enhance the results of the treatments.

Lightwave LED therapy can be used after an intense laser procedure to help the skin heal faster, or it may be used alone to undo the signs of aging. Lightwave LED therapy enhances microdermabrasion and chemical peels. Skin will be rejuvenated using both red and infrared light.

Omnilux is an LED therapy that can be used in single treatments, but is recommended to be used with multiple treatments. There are no reported side effects with this type of LED facial, and it is well tolerated by many individuals. Omnilux is often used with fillers to enhance them.

As a way to help my incredibly painful sunburn, I have used Gentlewaves LED therapy. I fell asleep on the beach, and my upper thighs were bright red when I woke up, as I guess I forgot to put sunscreen there. It hurt so badly! So bad. I immediately called my dermatologist and they suggested I try this LED facial treatment. It worked so well!  The treatment brought a huge relief to my legs, which hurt so bad that I could not even walk or move. The redness was reduced fast and so was the pain. I repeated the treatment a few days later, and after the second treatment, my skin looked a hundred times better.

There are some issues with my skin that I would love to be able to address. I have some acne scarring, and my skin has started to age, so I have the telltale signs of wrinkles which is saddening. My question is, if I have an LED facial done, will it address all the issues that I have with my skin? Would all the treatments work together to not only reduce my acne scarring, but help to fill in the wrinkles, and also shrink the pores that are on my chin, as they are rather large I feel? Can an LED facial be used on the entire face, or do they only like to treat portions of the face? I feel that these questions would be good questions to have answered before I make the call to my dermatologist to see if they could perform such a task on me.

I have used an LED facial before for my freckles. The procedure did not hurt at all and was fast and gentle. And the best part was the fact that there were no undesired side effects. I am pleased with the results that this LED facial has given me. My skin did seem tremendous improvements in the clarity of the skin, and the best part was I found the treatment to be very affordable.

Nice read on LED facials. I have been strongly considering having this done on my chest. I have some issues with my skin there that I just want taken care of as soon as possible. It sounds like treatments go pretty quick, based on the information that the treatments can be scheduled weekly or bi-weekly.

I’m interested in learning more about an LED facial. So I assume that this is something that a dermatologist could do? I have some sunspots that I am just not happy with. I would love to get them taken care of. I like the fact that this treatment is non-invasive and would not require me to have any downtime. I think I will call my dermatologist to see if they offer any kind of the LED facials that are listed above.

My experience with Gentlewaves was great and I totally loved it! It is very relaxing to do and does not hurt in the least. I never knew that there were different forms of LED facials, but I will be sticking with Gentlewaves as I have had some great experiences with it. I have had 8 treatments done, and gradually my skin saw a huge improvement. My wrinkles are not as pronounced. And it is soft and supple and looks wonderful. I will keep using Gentlewaves as a maintenance treatment to get my skin to look good. I totally recommend this!
